Hey Friends!
With the new Lala’s Life Garden Training Studio underway I have gotten a TON of feedback these last couple weeks about what the HARDEST part of eating decent here at the coast is. (If you’re not at the coast all of this info still applies).
First up, Choices at Restaurants. The possibilties at the local restaurants around can absolutely be shifted! Just takes a little work on our end. Look for a post about some partnerships with local restaurants who are willing to work with leaning into more nutritionally sound options coming up in the next few months!
Next, grocery shopping and snacks!!! In the coming weeks I’ll detail out some best practices lists for our local Costco and Natural Grocer’s.
BUT, for now the snacks seem to be the BIGGEST thing that people are having trouble coming up with creative ideas for.
So, I put together a few options that would work for leaning into a more whole foods/real food lifestyle when it comes to our nutrition. Please take note I am Not affiliated with any of these products. I am just aware of what is available, what works, and quite honestly things I’ve tried and liked the BEST. As always choose what works best for YOU!
With that said I am also a high proponent of Paleo/Primal/Whole30 style eating. But, at the end of the day, it really depends on what you’re doing now, finding out where the kinks are, and taking the best steps forward from there. Night and Day changes don’t usually last. But Small Sustainable Steps/Changes that you can continue to implement consistently do!
Snacks:
Hard-Boiled Eggs (Try to buy the most sustainable form you can)
Meat, Chicken, Steak, Seafood, Fish, Ham, Turkey, Beef, etc. (Sustainable sourcing if you can)
Vegetables (Celery, Carrot, Tomato, Broccolli, Cauliflower, etc.)
Fruit (Apples, Grapes, Banana’s, Oranges, etc & Lara Bars)
Nuts/Seeds (Raw Almonds, Raw Cashews, Raw Brazil Nuts, etc., Justin’s Almond, Cashew, Hazelnut Butter Packs)
Avocado’s
Beef Jerky (Chomps, The New Primal, Field Trip Sticks)
Collagen Supplements (Bulletproof, Vital Proteins, Primal Kitchen Collagen Fuel)
Wildway Grain Free Hot Cereal (and add a scoop of collagen to boost the protein!)
Alternatives or Transitory Food if you are just starting to bridge the gap between basic American diet eating into Paleo-ish/Real Food eating…
If you need help figuring out WHERE you are with Nutrition right now then just use MyFitnessPal. It’s free. It’ll calculate your calories and macro’s. And it’s a great place to start!
Until next time friends! Aloha!
